General description

15:0-18:1-d7-PE (1-pentadecanoyl-2-oleoyl(d7)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) is a deuterated phospholipid. The lipid comprises phosphatidylethanolamine attached to pentadecanoic acid and oleic acid. Oleic acid harbors the deuterium ions. Phosphatidylethanolamine is a membrane phospholipid and serves as an intermediate in other glycerophospholipid synthesis.
This deuterium labeled lipid is also available in a formulation of multiple lipid standards. The SPLASH LIPIDOMIX Standard includes all of the major lipid classes at ratios relative to human plasma, allowing one easy internal standard solution to be added to every sample.

Application

15:0-18:1-d7-PE (1-pentadecanoyl-2-oleoyl(d7)-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine) has been used:
  • as a component of extraction solvent for lipid isolation from biological samples,
  • as an internal standard for spiking serum samples for liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
  • as an internal standard to spike plasma samples for fourier transform mass spectrometry (FTMS) analysis

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) regulates protein folding, protein modification, autophagy and cell division. PE serves as a substrate for glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchored proteins (GPI-APs) synthesis. Low levels of PE may be observed in Parkinson′s disease and may also inhibit protein maturation.
