- as a substrate for phosphatidyl-myo-inositol mannosyltransferase (PimA) to compare the effect of non-substrate phospholipids on the activity
- as a replacement for mycobacterial membranes in enzymatic assays to measure PimA activity
- as a phospholipid (PL) standard in the ion trap-time of flight (IT-TOF) system to study the fragmentation principles of unique PLs and also used as a nonendogenous PL standard for the quantitative analysis of PLs in nut samples
