Application

  • Photocatalytic degradation of pollutants: Iodoethane is utilized in the synthesis of SnO nanoplates embedded within a chitosan-ionic liquid ionogel framework, enhancing photocatalytic degradation of pollutants through band gap narrowing (Arshia et al., 2023).
  • Amphiphilic ether synthesis: As a reagent in organic synthesis, iodoethane plays a critical role in the production of amphiphilic 6-carboxypullulan ethers, contributing to advancements in carbohydrate polymer applications (Pereira et al., 2014).
  • Detection of pesticide resistance: Iodoethane is employed in assays for detecting glutathione-S transferase activity in mosquitoes, providing a methodological foundation for resistance monitoring in vector control programs (Morou et al., 2010).
  • Synthesis of deuterated compounds: Employed in the synthesis of deuterated sex pheromone components for agricultural pest management, iodoethane facilitates the modification of pheromone structures to improve stability and efficacy (Kiyota et al., 2009).
  • Synthesis of cyanine dyes: Iodoethane is used in the microwave-assisted synthesis of heptamethine cyanine dyes, essential for producing near-infrared dyes with applications in medical imaging and organic electronics (Winstead et al., 2008).
