二甲基亚砜(DMSO)是一种极性有机溶剂。各种亲电试剂(草酸氯)活化的DMSO被用于氧化各种醇类(初级醇类、次级醇类、烯丙基醇类、苄基醇类、受阻醇类和双环醇类)。产生作为反应产物的羧基化合物。由于其较高的稳定性,已被提出作为甲基纤维素溶液的替代溶剂用于茚三酮的反应。
