Calcitonin Salmon is a type of polypeptide hormone that is responsible for regulating calcium metabolism. This hormone is found in the ultimobranchial gland of salmon, and has the same sequence as that of human calcitonin. Calcitonin Salmon is produced through either synthetic processes or microbial processes that use recombinant DNA (rDNA) technology.

Applicazioni

Calcitonin salmon USP reference standard, intended for use in specified quality tests and assays as specified in the USP compendia. Also, for use with USP monographs such as:

Azioni biochim/fisiol

Hypocalcemic hormone produced by the parafollicular C cells of the thyroid or by the ultimobranchial bodies of nonmammalian vertebrates. Decreases blood calcium and phosphate due to inhibition of resorption by osteoblasts and osteocytes.
