Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

NNGH is a potent and cell-permeable inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 3 (MMP-3,stromelysin 1, progelatinase). NNGH has been used to inhibit MMP-3 in a variety of studies. Inhibition of MMP-3 with NNGH significantly suppressed the expression of iNOS and pro-inflammatory cytokines and the activities of NF-KB, AP-1, and MAPK in LPS-stimulated microglia, suggesting a role for MMP-3 in neuroinflammation.

The intestinal epithelium forms a selective barrier maintained by tight junctions (TJs) and separating the luminal environment from the submucosal tissues. N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) quorum-sensing molecules produced by gram-negative bacteria in the gut can influence homeostasis of the host intestinal

Purpose: Evidences suggest that during ischemia/reperfusion events, neuronal loss in ganglion cell layers (GCLs) occurs initially in the peripheral retinae followed by the central. However, which key molecule or factor mediates this selective loss needs elucidation. In the present study

We have recently demonstrated that RUNX2 promoted, and 17β-Estradiol (E2) diminished, association of RANKL with the cell membrane in pre-osteoblast cultures. Here we show that, similar to E2, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) diminishes association of RANKL, and transiently transfected GFP-RANKL with the

An imbalance between tissue-degrading matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their counterparts' tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) causes pathologic extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation in chronic wounds and requires new adaptive biomaterials that interact with these regulators to re-establish their balance.
