Total lympholytic complement activity determined under conditions of NIH two-step cytotoxicity test that uses defined HLA isoantisera. Activity present at a titer of at least 1:4. No intrinsic cytotoxicity against human peripheral blood lymphocytes. Intended for micro and macro lymphocyte cytotoxicity testing with human or animal sera. Also useful as an active source of complement for use with hybridoma antibodies, alloantisera, and related applications in which a non-cytotoxic source is required.
Application
Complement, rabbit serum has been used:
- in complement killing of fibroblasts for the isolation of Schwann cells (SCs)
- as a component of Dulbecco′s modified Eagle medium (DMEM) for the purification of SC cells
- to eliminate fibroblasts for the SC isolation

Fast neural conduction requires accumulation of Na(+) channels at nodes of Ranvier. Dedicated adhesion molecules on myelinating cells and axons govern node organization. Among those, specific laminins and dystroglycan complexes contribute to Na(+) channel clustering at peripheral nodes by unknown
