Application

Phenylmethanesulfonyl fluoride has been used as a component in radioimmunoprecipitation buffer for western blot analysis. It has also been used as a component in the RAW264.7 cell lysis buffer for western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phenylmethanesulfonyl fluoride has the ability to enhance the stability of plasma lipidome in lipidomic and metabolomic analysis. This serine protease inhibitor reduces the naloxone-precipitated withdrawal jumping behavior in morphine-dependent mice.

Other Notes

Specific trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitor. Less toxic substitute for diisopropylfluorophosphate. Potentiates the effects of ischemia on brain mitochondria through its inhibition of phospholipase C.
