human ... DUSP22(56940)

General description

Dual specificity phosphatases (DUSP) family, which can dephosphorylate both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues, comprise of two subgroups: "typical" DUSP (include 11 MKPs that dephosphorylate the mitogen-activated protein kinases Erk, Jnk, and p38 at their dually phosphorylated TXY activation loop motif) and "atypical" DUSP (include 8 enzymes that lack specific MAP kinase-targeting motifs and tend to be much smaller proteins, which are less than 250 amino acid residues). DUSP22, also called JKAP, JSP1 and MKPX plays a role in various inflammatory and proliferative disorders associated with dysfunctional Jnk signaling.

The human DUSP15 gene encodes an uncharacterized 235-amino acid member of the subfamily of small dual specificity protein phosphatases related to the Vaccinia virus VH1 phosphatase. Similar to VHR-related MKPX (VHX) (DUSP22), the predicted protein has an N-terminal myristoylation recognition
