General description

The brilliant green and ox bile in the Mossel Broth almost completely inhibit the undesired accompanying bacterial flora. The high buffering capacity of the culture medium prevents the formed acid from killing the culture. Glucose is the main energy source and supports the rapid growth of all Enterobacteriaceae, while enzymatic digest of animal tissue serves as the source for nitrogen, vitamins, and amino acids.

Application

Mossel Broth is suitable for microbiological examination of non-sterile pharmaceutical products, foodstuff and other materials. It is designed for selective enrichment of bile-tolerant, gram-negative bacteria and particularly Enterobacteriaceae.
