General description

Phosphoserine/phosphatidylserine (PS) is an endogenous phospholipid, that is found in all polyanionic macromolecules.

Application

TopFluor® PS may be used in liposome generation and as a synthetic fluorescent PS analogue to study PS distribution and dynamics in mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs). It has also been used to study the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) efficiency between TopFluor PtdSer and RFP-K-RasG12V PBD mutants and to directly measure its interaction with RFP-K-RasG12V PBD mutant.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphoserine (PS) can be used as a template for the recognition of cancer antigen 125 (CA 125). It is very essential for healthy nerve cell membranes and myelin. Exogenous PS can be actively absorbed in humans. It plays a key role in memory related issues and several other cognitive activities. PS actively participates in the locomotor functions. TopFluor-PS/1-palmitoyl-2-(dipyrrometheneboron difluoride)undecanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-l-serine is a synthetic fluorescent PS analog.
