General description

TNF RII is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein primarily expressed on hematopoietic cells and is designated TNFRSF1B. TNF RII is a highaffinity receptor for TNF alpha and TNF beta. A soluble form of the receptor generated by proteolytic cleavage functions as a TNF antagonist.

Specificity

The antibody detects human TNF sRII and shows no cross-reactivity with recombinant human TNF sRI.

Immunogen

recombinant human TNF soluble receptor II (TNF sRII) expressed in Escherichia coli. The immunogen is the non-glycosylated, N-terminal methionyl form of the naturally-occurring human soluble type II receptor for TNF, minus 53 amino acids from the proline-rich region just exterior to the transmembrane domain.

Application

Western Blot: 1 ug/mL detects rhs TNF RII at 5 ng/lane under non-reducing conditions
Immunocytochemistry: Concentration of 5-15 ug/ml detects TNF RII in human peripheral blood lymphocytes

Optimal dilutions should be determined by the end user.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline (pH 7.4) and 5% trehalose.

Other Notes

Protein A or G purified

Receptors in the nerve growth factor/tumor necrosis factor receptor family are characterized by the presence of cysteine-rich motifs of approximately 40 amino acids in the extracellular domain. The ligands are type II transmembrane proteins with beta-strands that form a jelly-roll
