General description

H1 histone family member O oocyte specific (H1foo) is present in the nucleus of germinal vesicle stage oocytes, metaphase II (MII) arrested oocytes and the first polar body. It is located on human chromosome 3q22.1.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

H1 histone family member O oocyte specific (H1foo) participates in nuclear remodeling. It helps in the development of oocyte. H1FOO is considered as an oocyte-derived factor that is essential for genetic reprogramming in mammals.
