Gene Information

human ... HOXD4(3233)
rat ... Hoxd4(288153)

General description

The Homeobox D4 (HOXD4) gene is expressed in mesodermal tissues and the central nervous system (CNS). The HOXD4 gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 2q31.1.

Specificity

Anti-HOXD4 (C-terminal) recognizes human HOXD4 (also known as HOX-4B, HOX-5).

Application

Anti-HOXD4 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunofluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

The Homeobox D4 (HOXD4) gene is involved in the development of dura mater and morphogenesis of the development of the spine. This gene plays a role in the pathogenesis of spinal extradural arachnoid cyst (SEDAC). HOXD4 gene is also involved in tumorigenesis of the central nervous system. This gene acts as a diagnostic marker of gliomas.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Store at –20 °C. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots at –20 °C. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
