Gene Information

human ... RECQL(5965)

General description

ATP-dependent DNA helicase Q1 (UniProt: P46063; also known as EC:3.6.4.12, DNA helicase, RecQ-like type 1, RecQ1, DNA-dependent ATPase Q1, RecQ protein-like 1) is encoded by the RECQL (also known as RECQ1, RECQL1) gene (Gene ID: 5965) in human. RecQ helicases are a ubiquitous family of DNA unwinding enzymes involved in the maintenance of chromosome stability. They participate in various types of DNA repair, including mismatch repair, nucleotide excision repair and direct repair. Five members of the RecQ family have been reported in human cells: BLM, RECQ1, RECQ4, RECQ5, and WRN. RecQ1 displays high expression in heart, lung, skeletal muscle and kidney. It is also highly expressed in tumor cells and although brain exhibits low level of EecQ1, its expression is dramatically increased in human glioblastoma. Depletion of RecQ1 affects proliferation of glioblastoma cells and causes an increase in the level of DNA damage. RecQ1 depleted tumor cells are shown to be more sensitive to anti-tumor agents, such as hydroxyurea and temozolomide.

Specificity

This rabbit polyclonal antibody detects ATP-dependent DNA helicase Q1 (RecQ1) in human cells. It targets an epitope within 16 amino acids from the C-terminal end.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 16 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human ATP-dependent DNA helicase Q1 (RecQ1).

Application

Anti-RecQ1, Cat. No. ABC1428, is a rabbit polyclonal antibody that detects ATP-dependent DNA helicase Q1 and has been tested for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry, and Western Blotting.
Immunofluorescence Analysis: A representative lot detected RecQ1 in T98G cells after treatment with anti-RECQ1 siRNA or control siRNAs (Mendoza-Maldonado, R., et. al. (2011). Mol Cancer. 10:83).

Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot detected RecQ1 in Western Blotting applications (Thangavel, S., et. al. (2015). J Cell Biol. 208(5):545-62).

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A representative lot detected RecQ1 in tissues are perilesional sections from multiform glioblastoma, colon carcinoma, lung cancer and thyroid cancer (Mendoza-Maldonado, R., et. al. (2011). Mol Cancer. 10:83).
