General description

SiO2 is majorly used as a substrate material with excellent thermo-mechanical properties in a variety of applications which include: vapour deposition, phase deposition, atomic force microscopy probes(AFM, spin coating, and electronic based devices.

Application

  • Bioresorbable pressure sensors protected with thermally grown silicon dioxide for the monitoring of chronic diseases and healing processes: Discusses the development of bioresorbable pressure sensors using silicon dioxide, highlighting its potential in medical diagnostics and monitoring (J Shin et al., 2019, Nature).
  • Solvent-assisted lipid bilayer formation on silicon dioxide and gold: This research investigates the interaction between lipid bilayers and silicon dioxide surfaces, useful in the development of biosensors and other biotechnological applications (SR Tabaei et al., 2014, ACS Publications).
