Rimsulfuron is a sulfonylurea herbicide, used for postemergence use in many crops like potatoes, maize, tomatoes, etc. to control grasses and some broadleaf weeds. Like other sulfonylureas, the site of action of rimsulfuron is acetolactate synthase (ALS)— an enzyme for the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids .
As per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, repealing the directive 91/414/EEC, rimsulfuron is approved for use in the European Union(EU). A maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01-0.02 mg/kg is applicable for the presence of rimsulfuron in fresh/frozen fruits, and tree nuts, in accordance with Regulation Reg. (EU) 617/2014.

- Residue analysis of a sulfonylurea herbicide, rimsulfuron, and its dissipation in soil and potato plants under field conditions using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS)
- Analysis of electrochemical behavior and determination of rimsulfuron herbicide by square wave voltammetry
- Simultaneous determination of rimsulfuron and haloxyfop-p-methyl and its metabolite haloxyfop in tobacco leaf by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
