白细胞介素 4（IL-4） 是一种多效细胞因子和有效的淋巴样细胞生长因子。它由活化的 T 细胞产生，是白细胞介素 4 受体的配体。编码这种蛋白的基因位于人类染色体 5q31.1 上。已有研究报道了编码不同同种型的该基因的 2 个选择性剪接转录变体。
生化／生理作用
白细胞介素 4（IL-4） 刺激某些 B 细胞和 T 细胞的生长和存活。白细胞介素 4 受体还与白细胞介素 13（IL-13） 结合，这可能有助于这种细胞因子和 IL-13 的许多重叠功能。STAT6（信号转导和转录激活因子 6）已被证明在介导这种细胞因子的免疫调节信号中起核心作用。该蛋白质表现出抗炎反应，并通过防止细胞内病原体在免疫过程中发挥作用。
