應用
木炭、葡聚糖涂层已被用于：
- 作为细胞培养基中测试雄激素受体功能的补充
- 褪黑激素放射免疫测定过程
- 制备不含类固醇的人血清
- 降低未治疗血清中的肌酐水平。
生化／生理作用
葡聚糖包被木炭的使用使得生物体液中胰岛素的免疫测定更加简单和快速。理论上，涂有葡聚糖的木炭会吸附游离激素，留下与载体（或抗体）结合的激素。葡聚糖包被木炭用于从血清中剥离激素，而不是单独使用木炭，因为使用葡聚糖包被木炭减少了蛋白质的损失。
