Acid Buffer pH 2.2 is designed as a critical media component for Legionella spp. studies. Legionella a gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria, are commonly found in various freshwater biotopes, often associated with protozoans such as amoebae, where they can grow intracellularly.
The presence of acid in the growth medium inhibits colony formation of other contaminating bacteria from the test sample.
