The gene EFEMP2 (EGF containing fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein 2) is mapped to human chromosome 11q13. It is a secreted protein and has six EGF (epidermal growth factor)-like calcium-binding domains. EFEMP2 is a member of the fibulin family.

應用

生化／生理作用

EFEMP2 (EGF containing fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein 2) is involved in connective tissue development, elastic fiber formation, vascular patterning and collagen biosynthesis. Additionally, EFEMP2 is also associated with cutis laxa, aortic aneurysms, osteoarthritis and cancer.
