α-生育酚是维生素E的活性形式。它起着氢过氧自由基清除剂的作用,可保护机体免受氧化损伤。α-生育酚在细胞信号传导和调节免疫应答中起关键作用。α-生育酚缺乏与无β脂蛋白血症、囊性纤维化和乳糜泻有关。它具有抗增殖作用。它抑制亚砷酸盐诱导的人成纤维细胞损伤。
