General description

11-nor-9-Carboxy-Δ9-THC, also known as THC acid, is the main secondary metabolite of Δ9-THC found in urine or blood of cannabis users. This internal standard is applicable for numerous applications in GC/MS or LC/MS testing from forensic analysis and clinical toxicology to urine drug testing and isotope dilution methods.

Application

  • Cannabis Use and Biomarkers of Inflammation, Immune Activation, and Microbial Translocation in Persons with HIV: This study examines the relationship between cannabis use and various health indicators in HIV-positive individuals. The use of cannabinoid metabolites like 11-nor-9-Carboxy-Δ⁹-THC in such research is critical for understanding the impact of cannabis on immune health (Okafor et al., 2024).

  • Postmortem redistribution of cannabinoids: Statistical analysis of a novel dataset and meta-analysis: This research investigates how cannabinoids, including THC and its metabolites, are distributed in the body postmortem. This is important for forensic sciences, particularly in determining the time and amount of substance use before death (Tascon et al., 2023).

  • Integrative Analysis of Proteome-wide Association Studies and Functional Enrichment Analysis to Identify Genes and Chemicals Associated with Alcohol Dependence: This study utilizes advanced proteomic and genomic analysis techniques to link chemical exposure, including cannabis metabolites, to genetic markers of alcohol addiction (Zhang et al., 2023).

  • Analysis, occurrence, and consumption of substances with abuse potential in Xinjiang, China, from 2021 to 2022: Provides insights into the usage patterns of psychoactive substances including cannabinoids, contributing to public health and regulatory strategies (Zhao et al., 2023).

  • Maternal and Fetal Exposure to (-)-Δ(9)-tetrahydrocannabinol and Its Major Metabolites in Pregnant Mice Is Differentially Impacted by P-glycoprotein and Breast Cancer Resistance Protein: Explores how drug transporters affect the placental transfer of cannabinoids, which is crucial for understanding the risks associated with prenatal exposure (Chen et al., 2023).

Analysis of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and Carboxytetrahydrocannabinol (THCCOOH) in Surface Waters by SPME and GC/MS

LC-MS/MS is a powerful tool that brings numerous benefits to the clinical sample analysis arena. However, due to the complexity of the instrumentation there are some unique challenges that also accompany these benefits. Even following sample extraction and cleanup, matrix effects from the samples can cause interferences or impact ionization efficiency.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
