General description
Immunoglobulin Y is an antibody produced in birds. IgY is similar to mammalian IgG but differs in some characteristics from IgG. IgY does not bind with mammalian complements nor rheumatoid factor, which are present in mammalian serum and anti-mammalian IgG antibodies. During oogenesis in chicken, IgY can pass across the follicular epithelium of the ovary and aggregate in the yolk. The heavy chain of IgY and mammalian IgG has a molecular weight of 68kDa and 50kDa, respectively. The structure of mammalian IgG is considered more stable than that of IgY. IgG antibodies, which often cross-react to IgG from different mammalian species, exhibit low cross-reactivity to IgY. Thus, IgY is beneficial when it is used as a biochemical/clinical reagent.
This product is prepared by labeling highly cross-adsorbed goat anti-chicken IgY (IgG) (H+L) with CF405M. CF405M is spectrally similar to and as bright as Pacific Blue dye but is significantly more photostable than the latter. An additional advantage of CF405M is that it has less spillover in the 525/50 green channel than Pacific Blue dye due to narrower emission peak, making CF405M a superior choice in multi-color detection applications. To minimize cross-reactivity, the antibody has been adsorbed against Bovine, Goat, Guinea Pig, Syrian Hamster, Horse, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat, and Sheep serum.
Specificity
Binds all chicken IgYs (minimal cross-reaction with bovine, goat, guinea pig, syrian hamster, horse, human, mouse, rabbit, rat and sheep proteins)
Immunogen
chicken IgY (H+L)
Application
Anti-Chicken IgY (IgG) (H+L), highly cross-adsorbed, CF™405M antibody produced in goat has been used in immunohistochemistry.
