General description
Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) is an amine-reactive derivative of fluorescein dye that is one of the simplest and most commonly used reagents for antibody and protein labeling applications. It is suitable for use in fluorescence microscopy, Flow Cytometry, and other immunofluorescence-based assays. Its NHS ester form reacts efficiently with primary amino groups (-NH2) in neutral to slightly alkaline (pH 7 to 9) buffers to form stable amide bonds. It displays excitation max at 494 nm and emission at 518 nm and has an extinction coefficient of 70,000 M-1 cm-1.
