General description

MDM2 is over-expressed in many tumors. Its principal function is the ubiquitination and degradation of p53 tumour suppressor protein. This monoclonal antibody also recognizes a peptide epitope around Thr-216 of murine MDM2 when Thr-216 is unphosphorylated (Zhang & Prives, 2001). SMP14 also cross reacts with some cytokeratins (6, 14 & 16). This is only a problem when working with certain epithelial cells and not fibroblasts.

Specificity

Recognizes human MDM2.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 154-167 (CSRPSTSSRRRAISE) of human MDM2 cross-linked to KLH using glutaldehyde.

The DNA damage response to infection with minute virus of mice (MVM) leads to activated p53; however, p21 levels are reduced via a proteasome-mediated mechanism. This loss was sustained, as virus replicated in infected cells held at the G(2)/M border.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have recently been implicated in many biological processes and diseases. Atherosclerosis is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. However, the functional role of lncRNAs in atherosclerosis is largely unknown. We identified lincRNA-p21 as a key
