Description

General description

An internal standard suitable for buprenorphine testing or isotope dilution methods by GC/MS or LC/MS for clinical toxicology, pain prescription monitoring, urine drug testing, or forensic analysis. Buprenorphine is a semi-synthetic opiate used in the treatment of moderate acute pain and opioid addiction. The drug is sold under numerous trade names such as Suboxone^®, Subutex^®, and Temgesic.

Application

• Determination of buprenorphine and norbuprenorphine in urine and hair by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry - This pivotal study utilizes Buprenorphine-D₄ as an internal standard to enhance the analytical accuracy of buprenorphine and its metabolite norbuprenorphine in biological samples, crucial for opioid pharmacokinetics study and drug monitoring (Vincent et al., 1999).


• HPLC-MS for the determination of sildenafil citrate (Viagra) in biological fluids. Application to the salivary excretion of sildenafil after oral intake - Although this study primarily focuses on sildenafil, the methodology involving high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS) where Buprenorphine-D₄ can be utilized as an internal standard demonstrates its broader application potential in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic research, especially in studies involving complex biological matrices (Tracqui et al., 2003).
