Specificity

Clone 1D10.4 is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects Dinitrophenol (DNP).

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated Dinitrophenol (DNP).

Application

Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting with DNP conjugated to BSA.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected DNP-conjugated BSA.

Tested Applications

ELISA Analysis: A representative lot of this antibody detected DNP in ELISA application.

Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user.

Target description

Dinitrophenols (DNPs) are highly toxic synthetic chemical compounds, classified as a mitochondrial uncouplers, as they disrupt the process of oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria, leading to a significant increase in metabolic rate and heat production. DNPs can prevent adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthesis, but permit electron transfer to proceed. Beside their commercial use as fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides, DNPs are useful tools to study cellular bioenergetics and the mechanisms of thermogenesis. It can be used as a reactant for catalytic reduction reactions, activation of carboxylic acids by converting them into dinitrophenyl (DNP) esters among others.
