Gene Information

General description

Anti-MAGE-C1 antibody, Mouse monoclonal (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma CT7-33 produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells (SP2/0 cells) and splenocytes from mice immunized with human recombinant MAGE-C1. The first melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) to be identified was MAGE-A1. The MAGE family of proteins contains over 25 genes that have now been identified in human. These proteins share a homologous region, named the MAGE homology domain (MHD).
MAGE family member C1 (MAGE-C1) belongs to the melanoma antigen gene (MAGE) family and consists of 1142 amino acids. The gene encoding MAGE-C1 is localized on human chromosome Xq26-27 and has four exons.

Immunogen

human recombinant MAGE-C1.

Application

  • Anti-MAGE-C1 antibody, Mouse monoclonal has been used in:
  • enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • immunocytochemistry
  • immunoblotting
  • immunoprecipitation
  • immunohistochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Although the physiological role of melanoma-associated antigen (MAGE) proteins is unknown, it has been reported that MAGE-C1 interacts and co-localizes with an additional cancer testis antigen, NY-ESO-1, in melanoma cells.
MAGE family member C1 (MAGE-C1) has been studied as the most expressed cancer or testis antigen in multiple myeloma.

Target description

MAGE-C1 is a member of the melanoma antigen gene (MAGE) family. The proteins of this family are tumor-specific antigens that can be recognized by autologous cytolytic T lymphocytes.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
