General description

16:0 azidocaproyl PE, also known as 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-(6-azidohexanoyl) is a head group modified lipid containing an omega-terminal azide. This click reagent with the terminal azide group can be used in a highly specific linking reaction with alkyne-containing reagents, known as ‘click chemistry′, in the presence of a copper (Cu)-containing catalyst.

Application

16:0 azidocaproyl PE or 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-(6-azidohexanoyl) has been used as a fluorophore to visualize cellular boundaries of the plasma membrane.

Biochem/physiol Actions

16:0 azidocaproyl PE aids in functionalization of DNA oligonucleotides on supported lipid bilayers for cell biological or in vitro reconstitution studies.
