General description
Cytochrome P450 1B1 (CYP1B1) is active in the metabolism of estrogens to reactive catechols and of different procarcinogens. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and the synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids.
