N,N-Dimethylglycine (DMG) is a natural N-methylated glycine that is used in comparative analysis with other N-methylated glycines such as sarcosine and βine. N,N-Dimethylglycine is used in the development of glycine-based ionic liquids and emulsifiers. N,N-Dimethylglycine is potentially useful as a biomarker of protein degradation in COPD patients. DMG is used as a substrate to identify, differentiate and characterize amino acid methyltransferase(s).

There is a paucity of biomarkers for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Metabolomics were applied to a defined COPD patient cohort from the ECLIPSE study (Evaluation of COPD Longitudinally to Identify Predictive Surrogate End-points). Results were correlated with accepted biomarkers

A38-year-old man presented with a history of fish odor (since age 5) and unusual muscle fatigue with increased serum creatine kinase. Our aim was to identify the metabolic error in this new condition. We used 1H NMR spectroscopy to study

Dimethylglycine dehydrogenase (DMGDH) (E.C. number 1.5.99.2) is a mitochondrial matrix enzyme involved in the metabolism of choline, converting dimethylglycine to sarcosine. Sarcosine is then transformed to glycine by sarcosine dehydrogenase (E.C. number 1.5.99.1). Both enzymes use flavin adenine dinucleotide and

Betaine insufficiency is associated with unfavourable vascular risk profiles in metabolic syndrome patients. We investigated associations between betaine insufficiency and secondary events in acute coronary syndrome patients. Plasma (531) and urine (415) samples were collected four months after discharge following

N,N-Dimethylglycine (DMG) is a tertiary amino acid that naturally occurs as an intermediate metabolite in choline-to-glycine metabolism. The objective of the present trial was to evaluate tolerance, safety and bioaccumulation of dietary DMG in broilers when supplemented at 1 g
