Palladium on carbon (Pd/C) (10 wt. % loading, matrix activated carbon support) can be used as a catalyst in the well known reactions like hydrogenation of alkenes, alkynes, ketones, nitriles, imines, azides, nitro groups, benzenoid and heterocyclic aromatics; hydrogenolysis of cyclopropanes, benzyl derivatives, epoxides, hydrazines, and halides; dehydrogenate aromatics and deformylate aldehydes.

- A catalyst for hydrodechlorination of dichlorodifluoromethane (CCl2F2), which is a known greenhouse gas,
- A catalyst for Heck reactions of aryl halides in ionic liquids

- A cost-effective electrocatalyst for the oxidation of methanol
- In the catalytic hydrogenation of chemical hydrides for the production of hydrogen
