General description

Sodium methoxide solution is composed of 0.5M sodium methoxide in 0.5N methanol. It is a widely used organic base in organic synthesis.

Application

Sodium methoxide solution may be used in the following processes:
  • As a solvent in the synthesis of disulfides from corresponding thiols.
  • To extract fatty acid methyl esters by transesterification process.
  • Synthesis of (1R,2R,3R,7aS)-1,2-dibenzyloxy-3-tert-butyldiphenylsilyloxymethylpyrrolizidin-5-one.
