Application

2-Propanol may be used as a solvent in the preparation of cyclic ureas by reacting carbon dioxide with diamines in the presence of pure cerium oxide (CeO2). It may also be used as an alternate precursor to acetone for synthesizing methyl isobutyl ketone.
