General description

Antibiotic that inhibits RNA synthesis by way of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Fluorescent dye that can be used in conjunction with Bisbenzimide H33258 (Cat. No. 382061) to distinguish chromosomes by their total DNA concentration and their DNA base composition. Binds to G:C pairs of helical DNA (Mg2+ required) but does not intercalate the A:T pairs, which preferentially bind Bisbenzimide H33258.
Antitumor antibiotic that inhibits RNA synthesis. A cell-permeable fluorescent dye that can be used with Bisbenzimide H 33258 (Cat. No. 382061) to distinguish chromosomes by their total DNA content and DNA base composition. Reversibly interacts with DNA in the presence of Mg2+. Binds to G:C pairs of helical DNA but does not intercalate.
