Gene Information

human ... EEA1(8411)

General description

Early endosome antigen 1 (EEA1) is a 170 kDa coiled-coil protein belonging to a group of early endosomal Rab5 effector proteins. EEA1 has a putative role in the tethering/docking of endocytic vesicles prior to their fusion with early endosomes. This protein is characterized as containing a zinc finger-like domain and coiled-coil regions. The zinc finger-like domain, also known as the FYVE finger, is a motif rich in cystine, is a necessary component of EEA1’s ability for endosomal targeting, and is specifically known for its dual interaction with Rab5 GTPase and phosphotidylinositol 3-phosphate (Ptdlns-3-P).

Specificity

Equine and Canine (99% sequence homology). Rat (98% sequence homology). Bovine (97% sequence homology).
This antibody recognizes EEA1.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to the C-terminus of human EEA1.
