General description

Nordiazepam is a benzodiazepine prescribed for treatment of anxiety and panic attacks. This analytical reference standard is suitable for use in LC/MS or GC/MS applications for clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or urine drug testing applications. Nordiazepam is also a primary urinary metabolite of benzodiazepines diazepam and chlrodiazepoxide.

Application

  • Probe Electrospray Ionization Tandem Mass Spectrometry for the Detection and Quantification of Benzodiazepines: This study employs advanced mass spectrometry techniques to enhance the detection and quantification of Nordiazepam and other benzodiazepines, critical for therapeutic drug monitoring in clinical settings. This method ensures high sensitivity and specificity, improving pharmacokinetic studies of benzodiazepine metabolites (Griffeuille et al., 2024).

  • Selective Extraction of Diazepam and Its Metabolites from Urine Samples: Details a molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction method, utilizing analytical grade Nordiazepam for benchmarking, to selectively extract diazepam and its metabolites from urine. This approach is pivotal for forensic and clinical toxicology, providing a reliable method for drug monitoring and abuse detection (Gil Tejedor et al., 2024).

  • Hair Analysis in Postmortem Investigations: Discusses the application of hair analysis in forensic science, where Nordiazepam and other drug residues are identified in postmortem samples. This technique is essential for determining drug involvement in unexplained deaths, offering insights into chronic drug use or poisoning (Pelissier-Alicot et al., 2024).

  • Diazepam: A comprehensive review of diazepam, detailing its pharmacology, therapeutic use, and metabolism, including Nordiazepam as a significant metabolite. This information is crucial for healthcare professionals to understand the effects, interactions, and potential side effects of this widely used benzodiazepine (2006).

  • Trace Analysis of Psychotropic Medications in Environmental Samples: Utilizes ultra-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) to detect low concentrations of Nordiazepam and other psychotropic medications in environmental samples. This research supports environmental health studies by tracking pharmaceutical pollutants, which can affect water sources and wildlife (Wang et al., 2024).
