General description

Silver carbonate, prepared by precipitation or ion-exchange method can behave as a visible light sensitive semiconductor photocatalyst.

Application

Silver carbonate (Ag2CO3)promotes the regioselective benzylation of carbohydrate derivatives in high yields. Ag2CO3 can be used as a base for the Pd catalysed oxyarylation of olefins by ortho-iodophenols.It can also be used for Koenigs-Knorr glycosylation.
