General description

We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Find details here.

Application

Sodium borohydride (NaBH4) is a stable hydrogen carrier, which can be used as a chemical hydrogen storage material. It can also be used as an anodic fuel for alternative energy applications such as the fabrication of fuel cells. NaBH4 can also be used in the reduction of graphene oxide in the presence of CaCl2 as a catalyst.
Sodium borohydride can be used to prepare:
  • Silica-coated silver nanoparticles, which are functionalized with various vitamins and antibiotics as bioactive materials.
  • Water-soluble oligoamine conjugated chitosans for biomedical applications.
  • Gold nanoparticles coated with poly(methacrylic acid), which are used for theranostic applications.
