General description

Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a saturated cyclic ether. Its potential use as a biofuel for internal combustion engines is investigated.
Tetrahydrofuran is an important basic chemical compound, which belongs to the category of 5-membered heterocycles.
This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food. Find all available reference materials for compounds listed in 10/2011 here

Application

Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.
Tetrahydrofuran may be used as an extraction solvent for the determination of pesticide residues in olive oil and phthalates in toys and child care articles by chromatography techniques.
Tetrahydrofuran may find application as a solvent in the synthesis of (S)-2-(1-pyrrolidinylmethyl)pyrrolidine. It is also an excellent solvent for sodium diisopropylamide, which can find applications as an effective base for the isomerization of alkenes and metalation of 1,4-dienes.
