Human Burkitt′s lymphoma

Cell Line Description

The cell line EB3 has been established in 1964 from a 3 year old male with Burkitt′s lymphoma. Herpes-like virus particles have been detected by electron microscopy. Antibodies from patients with infectious mononucleosis react with the herpes type virus (EBV) found in EB3 cells. The cell line has been shown to be resistant to challenge with vesicular stomatitis virus. Lymphoblastoid, grow as single cells and in clumps. Ethnicity: Black.
