Gene Information

human ... SMAD1(4086)

General description

Smad1 (SMAD family member 1) is a transcriptional activator, that is located on human chromosome 4q31.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Smad1 around the phosphorylation site of Ser465.

Immunogen Range: 416-465

Biochem/physiol Actions

SMAD (homologues of the Drosophila protein, mothers against decapentaplegic (Mad) and the Caenorhabditis elegans protein Sma) proteins have a major role in disease development and hence act as biologic prognostic factors in diseases. miR-345 represses the multiplication, invasion and migration of prostate cancer by downregulating Smad1.
