Description générale

Tea Tree Oil is an oil found in the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia. This essential oil is composed of terpene hydrocarbon, mainly monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes. Tea tree oil is volatile and slightly soluble in water.

Application

Tea Tree Oil has been used to induce stress response in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Tea Tree Oil possesses antimicrobial, anti scabies, and antifungal properties. It is commonly used in cosmeceuticals. Tea tree oil is also used to promote wound healing and to decrease periodic breast pain. Higher dose of tea tree oil is considered toxic and might result in skin allergy.
