Description générale

Di-n-octyl phthalate (DnOP) is ahigh-molecular-weight compound commonly used as a plasticizer to enhance theflexibility and durability of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products. It is found ina wide range of applications, including toys, wires, detergents, adhesives, automotive plastics, medical devices, and personal care products. Additionally,DnOP is utilized in non-PVC applications such as coatings, rubber products, andsealants.

Application

  • Unified BARGE Method for Phthalate Migration: A simplified unified BARGE method has been proposed to assess the migration of phthalate esters from ingested PVC consumer products. This study focuses on the migration behaviors of phthalates like Di-n-octyl phthalate, aiding in regulatory assessments and consumer safety evaluations (Mohamed et al., 2023).
  • ECTFE Porous Membrane for Dehumidification: The development of an ECTFE porous membrane for dehumidification of gaseous streams through a membrane condenser introduces a novel application of membrane technology, potentially incorporating Di-n-octyl phthalate as a process agent, enhancing industrial gas separation and purification processes (Pan et al., 2022).

Treatment of rats with hypolipidaemic drugs or with the plasticizer di-2-ethyl hexyl phthalate caused significant alterations in the concentration of certain plasma proteins. Certain proteins showed dose-dependent increases, in other cases the plasma concentrations fell in treated animals. The changes

Di-n-octyl phthalate (DnOP) is a plasticizer used in polyvinyl chloride plastics, cellulose esters, and polystyrene resins. The metabolism of DnOP results in the hydrolysis of one ester linkage to produce mono-n-octyl phthalate (MnOP), which subsequently metabolizes to form oxidative metabolites.
