Anwendung

Various concentrations of Deoxyribonucleic acid, low molecular weight, from salmon sperm has been used:
  • to study DNA binding to silicon-substituted hydroxyapatite nanocrystals.
  • in simple electrochemical DNA biosensors to detect and evaluate DNA damage caused by UV-C radiation and reactive oxygen species.
  • as a precursor in the synthesis of the bio-dots.

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Salmon sperm DNA is often used as a blocking agent invarious research applications. It isknown to improve the specificity and sensitivity of the multi-AP assay byreducing non-specific binding and background signal.

Dramatic changes occur in nuclear organization and function during the critical developmental transition from meiosis to mitosis. The Drosophila nuclear lamina protein YA binds to chromatin and is uniquely required for this transition. In this study, we dissected YA's binding

Two native DNAs differing in G + C content were bound equally with the antitumour drug cis-Pt(NH3)2Cl2 at increasing Pt/P ratios. Resulting changes in their ultraviolet absorption spectra show equal fractional decreases in the initially different values of A250/A270 for

Elevated circulating cell-free DNA (CFD) levels were found in patients with cancer. The standard CFD assays are work-intensive and expensive. The aim was to evaluate in patients with cancer a new simple CFD assay. In mice inoculated with cancer cells

Natural genetic competence is the ability of cells to take up extracellular DNA and is an important mechanism for horizontal gene transfer. Another potential benefit of natural competence is that exogenous DNA can serve as a nutrient source for starving

There is considerable interest in noninvasive and cost-effective methods for obtaining DNA in large-scale studies. In this randomized crossover study of 22 participants, we compared the DNA yield, quality, and associated costs of buccal cell DNA collected using cytobrushes (three
