The product is a 39% solution of peracetic acid in acetic acid. Peracetic acid is widely employed for the disinfection of sewage since it exhibits anti-bacterial, antifungal and sporicidal characteristics.

Anwendung

Peracetic acid may be used in the synthesis of oxiranes (epoxides) via Prilezhaev reaction.
