Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Antioxidans und mukolytisches Agens. Erhöht den zellulären Pool an Radikalfängern. Apoptose verhindernde Wirkung in neuronalen Zellen und Apoptose induzierende Wirkung in glatten Muskelzellen wurde beobachtet. Inhibiert HIV Replikation. Fungiert möglicherweise als Substrat für mikrosomale Glutathion-Transferase.
