Allgemeine Beschreibung

A stable-labeled internal standard applicable for use in isotope dilution methods or quantitation of methadone levels by GC/MS or LC/MS in forensic analysis, urine drug testing, pain prescription monitoring or clinical toxicology applications. Methadone is a synthetic opioid used medically as an analgesic and as a maintenance anti-addictive for use in patients with opioid dependency. The drug is sold under several trade names such as Symoron, Dolophine®, Amidone, Methadose®, Physeptone, or Heptadon.

Anwendung


  • Quantitative blood spot analysis: A sensitive LC-MS/MS assay was developed to quantify methaDoneand its metabolites in dried blood spots, demonstrating the application of Methadone-D₉ as an internal standard. This method offers a novel approach for monitoring methaDonelevels in patients, supporting drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic studies (Davari et al., 2020).

  • Molecular imprinting technique: A study employed molecularly imprinted polymer-sol-gel technology for micro-solid phase extraction of methadone, utilizing Methadone-D₉ for calibration in human plasma. This highlights its role in enhancing the accuracy of quantitative analyses in pharmaceutical research, particularly in the context of liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (El-Beqqali and Abdel-Rehim, 2016).

  • Forensic toxicology: A validated gas chromatography-mass spectrometry method was developed for simultaneous determination of methaDoneand its metabolites in umbilical cord plasma. Methadone-D₉ served as an internal standard, crucial for accurate measurement and forensic investigations (Nikolaou et al., 2008).
