RESUMO
Nursing care of the newborn in respiratory distress has become highly sophisticated and technical, requiring skill in principles of neonatal assessment and therapeutic interventions. It is important to be knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the equipment and monitors. However, focus should always remain on the infant as an individual within a family unit.
